Informal
Survey at the HRMAC Summit October 2007
SSP BPI
has been conducting an informal survey at the HRMAC Summit
for the past two years. The survey asked HR Professionals
to identify the greatest issues that they face over the next
12 months. Overwhelmingly, Retention and
Leadership Development/Succession Planning were named,
indicating that many companies are still struggling with
losing top talent and not being able to replace them.
It is
interesting to observe the change in focus in comparing the
top concerns in 2007 against those identified in 2006. Due
to the fact that the top two concerns for 2007 are similar
to 2006’s results, and from the increased level of work SSP
is doing in the areas of Retention of High Potentials,
Executive Coaching and Leadership Development, we can
clearly see that companies are struggling to retain or
replace quality leaders.

If, as
is often said, employees are a company’s greatest assets,
then this focus on the development of human capital is a
strategic issue for Human Resources. Developing programs to
capitalize on retention and leadership development and
succession planning can provide a competitive advantage and
favorably impact the bottom line. SSP BPI is prepared to
assist its clients in developing programs to address these
critical issues.
