Schneider Paulick presented complimentary seminars for
Pending College Graduates and Early Careerists to help them
with their Career Direction.
According to the Board of Labor Statistics, the number of
unemployed college graduates has doubled in the past few
years. Some seniors expect to be underemployed, while
others are choosing graduate school over working at a job
that they consider unsuitable. In fact, 61% of graduating
seniors expect to move in with their parents. (Paul knows
this from experience). Career management is dramatically
different than even a few years ago. Flatter organizations
mean fewer “career path” opportunities. Yet, in today’s
competitive market, organizations and individuals are
looking for new, practical ways to achieve career success.
We provided each of the participants with insights on:
§
Overview of
the Marketplace
§
Developing a
plan for career success
and how to implement it; Why it is important to do this now
§
Values;
Motivators
§
Identification of Skills; What is your offer to the
marketplace? What type of company will fit your skills and
general needs?
§
Demonstration of our on-line Career Guide, OI
Solutions. Individuals were given a password, which will
gave them access to through the internet
§
Sample
Resumes and cover letters
§
Networking
§
Interviewing
§
A
Comprehensive Job Search Manual.
Each individual took assessments prior to the seminar. The
assessments included Myers Briggs and Strong
Interest Inventories. Participants received individual
feedback and a personal session with a coach later in the
day after the seminar.
We were very impressed with the enthusiasm and participation
of all the attendees, we received an overwhelming response
from the students and, of course, from their parents. By
providing each individual with their own set of tools to
develop a career plan and to obtain job searching
essentials, we believe that they now have a competitive edge
and a highly effective approach to support their own Career
Success. We plan on hosting more of these seminars, in
case, your son or daughter missed this event. We will keep
you informed of the next scheduled seminar. |

SSP hosted a reception featuring author, Ed Gubman, discussing his book, The Engaging Leader: Winning
with Today’s Free Agent Workforce on March 2, 2004 at the
Hotel Sofitel.
We had a great turn out to our book
signing event, over 150 people attended. Ed Gubman
discussed the new skills that are needed to lead today’s
free agent-minded work force. In good times and bad, your
most talented people are looking out for themselves. You
can’t build Company loyalty anymore, but you can build
devotion to great leaders. Corporate America doesn’t have
much experience leading in this new way. Using simple,
accessible examples from business and sports – where agents
have been the norm for years – Ed provided indispensable
advice on how leaders can achieve excellence. Based on his
book, The Engaging Leader, this exciting, popular
presentation provided
a clear path for building
winning teams, and even dynasties, with lessons that could
be applied immediately.
Dr. Gubman made very compelling points on how critical great
leadership is today, and found a way to show what leadership
means and the difference it makes. He had shown dozens of
companies how to leverage their most vital competitive
assets – their people. His insightful parallels between
sports and business were easy to grasp and hard to forget.
